oh wow!!!! more awards....

I am so incredibly chuffed to have received these awards from two lovely ladies I 'met' via the do-crafts forum. Thank you so much Katy & Tara, I'm truly touched, it's so very much appreciated. The first award 'you rock my socks' was given to me by Katy(Katy's bloggeroo), please pop by her fab blog and say 'Hi', she has some gorgeous cards to view. I would like to pass this award onto Julie, because she is a great friend and makes stonking cards, Manda, for leaving lovely comments on my blog recently, also because she has been feeling a bit down lately & Vanessa, because I haven't visited Vanessa much lately, so this is my way of making it up to her, so sorry Vanessa The second award, 'circle of friends' was given to me by Tara, thank you so much. Tara has only recently started her blog and so far it is fab, she too makes stunning cards, pop by, check them out and say Hi to Tara.
I would like to pass this award onto everyone on my blogroll and to all who take the time to visit my 'lil oasis. Your comments and friendship really do mean a lot to me and for which I am truly grateful.

Luv 'n' hugs to you all xx vicki xx

.....smile....

....every cloud has a silver lining....Hoooooraaaaayyy!!! Managed to use the DCWV TSV from QVC. I thought the sentiment would go well with this 'kerryjo' stamp. You can't tell from the pic, but I have added glossy accents to the brolly and raindrops, some shimmery chalks around the edges of the image too.

Crikey I can't believe how many posts I have just added to my blog. Think me brains gonna explode, better go and recover ....pmsl!!!! Oh well at least that's me up to date with what I have been making lately. Just got to get around to visiting everyone now...lol!!!!!!

Heres a selection of cards I have recently made and sent out to some of my lovely blogging buddies. I got the idea for the wallets from seeing them recently on Michelle, Sue and Ginas blog. The card and wallet below, I sent to Michelle for her birthday. The images were very kindly sent to me by Kerry/Pickle, thank you Kerry. Papers are from HOTP. This is the first card I made using my new Sugar Nellie stamps. This wallet card I sent to Natalie. Papers are from Basic Grey, two scoops,
My camera must be on the wrong setting because these two pics are awful, so sorry. This card and wallet I sent to Kerry, by way of congratulating her on the launch of her 'kerryjo' stamps. So incredibly proud of you Kerry, well done on a fantastic set of stamps, I love them
This card and wallet I sent to Julie, just for saying a big thanks for all the lovely comments she has recently left on my blog, but mainly for being the 'kick up the butt' that Kerry needed in the first place.
If you haven't already please check out these ladies blogs, they really are fantastic card makers and such lovely, lovely ladies. It makes me soooo happy to call them my friends. Love 'n' hugs to you all xx vicki xx

The rules of the game get posted at the beginning. Each player answers the questions about themselves. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5-6 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know they’ve been tagged and asking them to read your blog. Let the person who tagged you know when you’ve posted your answer.

Happy Birthday Georgia-May

I had the great priviledge of receiving some of Kerrys 'doodles' a few weeks back, which was such a wonderful surprise, thank you again Kerry. My daughter, Georgia is also a fan of Kerry's, so I thought this would be very appropriate for her birthday card. Georgia doesn't study ballet, but like me, loves Kerry's ballerina 'doodles'. The papers are downloads from the Epson site. The letter 9 was originally white, but I inked it with pearlescent orchid brilliance inkpad then added glamour dust for the sparkly touch, I have coloured the image with shimmery chalks and inked the edges also with brilliance inkpad and glamour dust, unfortunately that doesn't show in this pic. Georgia is 9 today, can hardly believe how quick she is growing up. We picked the up from school and took them to 'Jump', which is a fab indoor adventure playground, then onto Mcdonalds. Georgia wanted to have a sleepover and below is a pic of the girlies eating popcorn and drinking hot choc with marshmallows. The time at the mo is 12.40am and they are still wide awake giggling like crazy. I have left hubby blowing up balloons and putting birthday banners around the house ready for her party tomorrow (well later today now...he! he!)
Hope you all have a great bank holiday weekend. Hopefully I'll be able to squeeze in some blog hopping later. TTFN xx vicki xx

papertake weekly challenge

There is a fab sketch to follow for this weeks challenge over at papertake weekly. I must admit I really enjoyed making this card. Maybe it was due to the fact that I have spent the majority of the day in my craft room playing with all my new stamps. Yesterday I received 'kerryjo's' and the day before I received the set of Elizabeth Bells collection from Funky Kits. I have made quite a few cards today, I will post the rest at a later date.
This image is called 'sitting with bear'. I've used Bazzill card stock, patterned papers are Basic Grey from the 'gypsy' pad, I've also used my new embossing folder 'spots & dots'. The edges of the papers have been inked using Tim Holtz distress ink pad 'brushed courduroy', really like using those inkpads at the mo, they are also great for watercolouring your images too. Faux stitches added with Whisper pen. Sentiment is HOTP stamp.

I really think I had better leave my craftroom now and do some hous****k (crikey I nearly said that word then...he! he!). Thanks for stopping by, hope everyone is happy and well.

Music 'n' cats.......

Morning all. Sorry not been around for a couple of days. I've been busy sorting things out for Georgia-May's birthday. She has made a list of things she wants for her birthday and there is one particular thing in a certain colour that I just haven't been able to get....aaarrgghh!!! Also been getting a few things for myself, ready for my London weekend.....can't wait. A whole weekend without kids....bliss

These cards are for an order I received via the florist who sells a few of my cards. I was asked to make a card, the theme being cats and music!!!! Now I am not a cat lover at all, therefore had nothing suitable amongst my stash. So I ordered this Penny Black stamp and the musical embossing folder from The Glitter Pot (fab service btw). I was only asked to make one card. I made the bottom one first and wasn't happy with it, so decided to make the one above, this way the lady has a choice, I don't like either of them though.
For this card the papers are downloaded from the Epson site 'cattitude'. I thought it looked too masculine, hense the reason for the pink/girly one above. The pics don't show the papers too well nor can you see the twinkly glamour dust.

I HAD A LOVELY DELIVERY FROM THE POSTMAN YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. MY 'KERRYJO'S' HAVE ARRIVED. FOR ALL THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT, CHECK OUT HER BLOG HERE. KERRY IS ONE TALENTED ARTIST, WHO HAS BEEN MAKING SUPERB CARDS WITH HER GORGEOUS 'DOODLES'. AT LAST THESE 'DOODLES' HAVE BEEN MADE INTO STAMPS WHICH YOU CAN BUY FROM DEBBI MOORE DESIGNS. THE STAMPS THEMSELVES ARE FAB, THEY ARE A LOVELY SIZE, CLEAR ACRYLIC WHICH ACTUALLY STICK TO YOUR BLOCKS, THEY GIVE A LOVELY CRISP, CLEAR IMPRESSION WHEN STAMPED. I AM HOPING TO MAKE A FEW CARDS WITH THEM TODAY. I AM SOOOOO EXTREMELY HAPPY AND EXCITED FOR KERRY, SHE REALLY DOES DESERVE ALL THE SUCCESS IN THE WORLD, I COULDN'T HAPPEN TO A NICER PERSON, SHE'S ALSO A GREAT FRIEND TOO. WELL DONE KERRY.

Circle of friends....

I have been given this cracking award from my very lovely buddy Natalie. Thank you ever so much Natalie, I'm truly grateful. I am so touched by all the lovely comments and support that you guys have given since I have started this blogging lark. I honestly do value your friendship. I would also like to thank everyone for taking the time to read and comment on my blog, it's very much appreciated. The four friends I choose to pass this onto are Natalie, Michelle, Kerry & Julie. I would also like to pass this onto everyone else who visits my blog. xx vicki xx

New Home.....

Hiya everyone, hope you've all had a good weekend. Please don't mention the football, Ryan is so upset that Cardiff lost yesterday. He's a massive Bluebirds fan, we got him a season ticket as part of his birthday pressie, which he was sooooooo chuffed with. I thought they played really well, not to mention getting to the final, that's a huge achievement itself, but nothing will console him at the mo. Ah well, nevermind.
Back to crafting......lol!! I have had the Magnolia bench and houses stamp for ages and not used them until today. So decided to have a little 'me' time and this is what I came up with. Not what I would usually do, but sometimes it's good to get out of your 'comfort zone' (so to speak).
Papers are from the K & Co pad 'Roam', Faux stitches are stamps from HOTP. Flora Doodle flower from Joanna Sheen. Images are coloured with Whisper pens.
I think I' ll pop back to my craft room and have another little play. I received the QVC DCWV TSV earlier in the week, may have to have a little play with that now...he! he!
Thanks for popping by, will do some blog hopping later on. TTFN xx vicki xx

friendship card....

Just a quick post in between ferrying the kids from one hobby to the next, Wednesday is a mad dash of an evening in this house...lol!!!

This is the card I have sent to my friendship swap partner over on the do-craft site. I have used Bazzill card stock, HOTP papers, Magnolia image has been paper pieced. The sentiment is from a set of stamps I received from Laurel They arrived yesterday and I've really enjoyed playing with them so far. Thank you once again Laurel for choosing my card as the winner of your challenge.

Oakey Doakey I'd better shift and get Georgia-May off to Brownies, then pick Ryan from footy training, then back to Brownies......he! he! never a dull moment hey!!!!!

Love to you all,
xx vicki xx

WOW!!! look what arrived in the post today....

What a gorgeous surprise I received this morning and I mean SURPRISE!!!!!! I had no idea this was coming at all. It is all thanks to the ever so lovely Michelle (card grotto)What a lovely surprise I got when I opened the card. Inside was filled with loads of lovely Penny Black stamped images, which I wasn't expecting. I am so touched, not to mention extremely grateful. Such a kind, thoughtful and generous gesture which has cheered me up after all the hasle with the bank etc today. Huge thanks Michelle and even bigger (((((hugs)))))
I must however apologise to Michelle (card grotto), because I originally made this post and thanked the wrong Michelle. Over on the do-crafts forum so many of us take part in a monthly friendship swap and it just so happened that this month I was partnered with Michelle from that site and I automatically assumed this card was from her and sent her a message saying huge thanks. I have just received a message back saying it wasn't her. I hope both Michelles could accept my sincere apologies, I feel terrible now, I should have realised by the style of card which Michelle it was.
oOo
****************
And look what else arrived today.....Woo Hoo!!!!. I entered Laurels challenge and my card won.
Laurel has sent me a fabby card, she is one lady crazy about Bella stamps, just check out her blog. Also a gorgeous set of CTMH flourish stamps, which I love. Thank you very much Laurel (((((Hugs))))) to you to.

Just on the day when I needed cheering up. I can't thank you ladies enough, what a fabby treat. I'm definately gonna make some time later today to lock myself in my craft room and play...lol!!!

love & best wishes to you all xx vicki xx

update on our account...

okay, been into my local branch this morning. Apparently Stephens card was 'cloaned' from a cashpoint machine, beggars belief doesn't it. The fraud department are dealing with the matter and our money should be refunded within 5 days. I must admit to feeling extremely vulnerable at the moment. What else do they know about us, etc????? So many questions going through my mind, it's driving me batty, mind you that don't take much...lol!!!!

Was looking forward to having a crafting day today, really not in the mood now! OOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ....................I am tamping mad. Sorry girlies, I will get around to posting some cards, oneday. So much for this being a craty blog...huh!!! Could do with a very large, stiff, strong.........................drink!!!!!!!!!

xx vicki xx

Someone's hacked into our account....

Just been doing some online banking and noticed that on our statement there is a debit today of £988.25 to Kwik Fit. Rang Stephen in work, (he works nights), he knows nothing about it, but it was taken from his card, it shows online the last four digits of his card number. Looks like his card has been 'cloaned'. So we are trying to sort something out at this time of night, but the bank has said we need to get in touch with the fraud dept which opens at 8am. In the meantime Stephens card has been cancelled. It's not just a matter of the money gone, it's all the inconvenience that goes with it.

So please be on your guard and make sure you check your statements regularly. I'm bloody fuming, (sorry for the language)..................AAARRGGHH!!!

Will let you know the outcome, as and when xx vicki xx

What a scorcher..........

It has been an absolutely gorgeous weekend here in South Wales. I hope everyone else has had it as lovely too. We have spent the whole weekend at home in our garden, which has been a real treat. Usually we spend every weekend dashing from one football match to another. Mind you we have been really busy as I have neglected our poor garden this year and it desperately needed tidying up. So I guess this is crafting of the green fingered variety.....lol!!! I hope you don't mind if I pop some pics to show you what we've been up too....
Above is Ryan with his mate Rhys, Georgia-May and Yasmin with their friend Chloe.

Tom, Ryan and Rhys
Not the best pic of my hubby Steve, but I had to take it. We have lived in this house almost 7 years. He has probably mowed the lawn a maximum of 5 times and NEVER before has he done any digging or weeding, gardening is my departments....lol!! So this weekend was a first for him.
I don't look my best in this pic either, but I had been digging so that's my excuse...he! he!. Tom officially finished school on Friday, he goes in later this week to do his GCSE's.
Georgia eating her bacon butty this morning.
Yasmin with her bacon butty.

Georgia and Yasmin have made a snail sanctuary in the garden and that's pretty much all they have played with all weekend, SNAILS...yuk!!! Well I guess as long as they were happy, that's the main thing. Now our garden is more or less tidy again, that should leave me with some time on my hands to do some proper crafting.....lol!!!!!
Thanks for passing by, hope everyone is happy and well, take care, love & best wishes

more of Kerrys' 'cool dude'

Happy Saturday morning to you all, hope you all are enjoying your weekend so far. We are having a VERY lazy morning. We're all still in our pj's, well to be honest I woke up about half an hour ago...he! he! he!. Well Kerry, I can't get enough of this lil guy, he definately is one 'cool dude'. For anyone who has been out of the country or in outer space...lol!! Kerry draws the most amazing 'doodles' when making her own cards and has very kindly allowed us to use a couple of her 'doodles'. Please go visit her blog as her cards are out of this world gorgeous.

The card above has been made with DCWV paper, 'dude' has been cut on my Big Shot, using the Dreamboat alphabet. Added some liquid pearls to the corners of the image. Circle sentiment is from CWC. 'cool dude' is coloured with water coloured pencils, then blended with Derwent Blender pencil rather than a water brush.

This is completely different from the one above and my son, Tom, doesn't like it at all...lol!!! "eerrrgh what disgusting colours, dun like tha!!!!!" were his words....he! he! he!, love his honesty. Papers are Basic Grey and DCWV. Letters cut on my Big Shot using 'best friends forever'. Image coloured with a Copic markers.

thanks for passing by, hope you have a great weekend, love & best wishes to you all

xx vicki xx

Courtesy of Kerry.....

What an incredibly talented and extremely generous lady Kerry is. If you check out her blog, she has allowed us to download her fabby 'doodled' characters, 'cool dude' and 'Mr Giraffe', or as my daughter Yasmin say 'Sally' the giraffe. Thank you so very much Kerry. I was finally able to download the papers from the Canon site, been trying all week to get these papers. As soon as hubby arrived home this morning, he knew exactly what was wrong and fixed the settings on our pc, 'hey presto' was able to download again.
This card is for Georgia-May, from her brother Ryan. Her birthday is later this month and she loves Kerrys 'doodles', also she's animal mad. Discovered these papers in the Basic Grey 'sugared'' pad and thought they would go well with Kerry's 'Mr Giraffe' or as Yasmin calls him, Sally. Many thanks again Kerry.
Thanks for visiting, hope you all have a fab weekend. I really should get around to doing some gardening this weekend, ..............or maybe not. Take care xx vicki xx

my wonderful hubby.....

....has done the most fabby surprise for our 10th wedding anniversary, which is the end of this month. For as long as I can remember I've been wanting to see the musical, Mama Mia. Over the last couple of weeks he's been asking all types of questions regarding my fav musicals, which ones I like to see the most??? etc. Well earlier this afternoon the phone rang, it was a lady from a theatre company asking if we still wanted the tickets, as she could only hold them until 3pm this afternoon?? I asked which tickets were they? her reply was 'Mama Mia' ....well I was bouncing around like a loony....lol, but didn't know what to do, I asked if I could get my hubby to ring her back. An hour later Stephen rang, probing with more questions. So I had to let him know about the lady that rang earlier, he was a little 'miffed' that the surprise was out, but releaved because he has been trying to book train tickets for me to meet him in London and didn't know which time to book. Anyway to cut a long story short, he has arranged for his parents to stay in our house for that weekend to look after the kids, booked a train ticket for me to travel to London AND booked us into a gorgeous hotel, The Tower, (must be nice, cos they supply complimentary Elemis products in the bathrooms....lol!!) for the weekend and we get to see Mama Mia. How extatic am I????????????? woo hoooooo!!!!! This has really cheered me up after feeling quite low these past few days, will be great to spend some quality time together, can't wait.

Thanks for popping by hope all is well with you guys, take care, happy crafting xx vicki xx

just a quickie........

....pmsl, not that type of quickie...lol!!!

I've been trying to print out some papers from
Canon but am having no luck at all. First it says error, then says done, then I am left with a blank white screen.....BOO HOO!!!!! I used to print loads of papers before, well ok months ago, but now nothing. I was wondering if any of you lovely ladies are having the same probs or is it me???? Would be ever so grateful for anyone else's imput, thanks girls xx vicki xx

Gina's 10,000 hits challenge....

The very lovely Gina, over at the Card Kabin is celebrating 10,000 hits, many congrats Gina. She has some delicious candy on offer, all she asks is for a card to be made using a stamp, pretty paper, flowers and ribbon. So this is my contribution.

The image is High Hopes and was given to me as part of a gorgeous RAK from the lovely Sue, thank you Sue. The paper is again from a K & Co pad, Sparkly Sweet. Flowers are HOTP and from Heidihicrafts.

Thanks for passing by xx vicki xx

just for you.....

Morning all, hope everyone is enjoying this glorious sunshine. I am determined to do some gardening today, my borders are full of weeds and the grass is growing at a rate of knots. Usually I am on top with my garden, but since crafting that is another job that's been put on the back burner.....lol!!!

I have made this wallet card using Martha from Magnolia Goblin range, I wanted to keep it simple as I love this paper and didn't want to cover too much of it. It is from the K & Co Classic K Bailey paper pad, which I can't get enough of at the mo. Scallopes are Nestabilities, raffia to tie the card together. Sentiment is a stamp from the HOTP kit I purchased recently from qvc.

Thanks for visiting, enjoy your day, love & best wishes xx vicki xx

a wild life......

yippeee!! at last, I have been able to make a card using the fab freebie ' Mr Giraffe doodle' from Kerry (thank you so much Kerry). Kerry has very kindly put this image on her blog, but please respect her copyright.

After weeks of moaning to my hubby about our printer he has finally bought a new one. Just wish it had arrived in time for Ryans birthday, as he is a mad Arsenal and Cardiff City Fan and I would have loved to have used those images for his card.

Sorry I've not been around for a few days, it's been really mad at home lately. To be honest I seem to be spending more and more time in the car, taxiing kids from one place to another. It has really got me down at the moment. The biggest problem being school, they are 7 and 9 miles away. We moved to this house 7 years ago and I made the silly mistake of not moving schools. Tom and Ryan were heartbroken at the thought of moving house....let alone schools... so I let them stay with their friends.....boy did I make a 'rod for my own back'. Especially as the local school is only at the top of our street....I must be crazy trekking all that way. Well no more, I have decided to move the girls and if Ryan doesn't want to move schools, he will have to take the bus. Tom is leaving school this Friday, just goes back for his GCSE so it doesnt affect him. He'll be going to college in Sept. Ooohhhh I'm so sorry for going on and on, I'm just really fed up at the mo and as for crafting I haven't had a chance lately, but I was determined to make this card, just to christen my new printer. Hopefully will have some more to show later in the week, got loads of footy matches, brownies and footy training this week, not to mention Ryan is back into tennis ...aaarrrgghhh!!!!! My heads gonna burst.

Hope everyone is happy and sane....lol!!! love to you all

what's in a name....

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but if you scroll down to the very bottom of this page you will see what Vicki means. I put this up a few days ago and forget to mention it. Whilst blog hopping, I noticed a few peeps had these on their blogs and decided to add one to mine. I am amazed at how spot on the facts are for my name. Just thought I would mention it ...... really found it interesting.....I then found myself putting loads of other family members names in to see what theirs meant....was quite taken back with the results, got really carried away, great fun.....lol!!! xx vicki xx

Michelles candy....

You really need to check out Michelles blog, she has had an amazing 40,000 hits, WOW!!! I can't say I am at all surprised as her style of cards are truly beautiful. So to celebrate the occassion she has some delicious candy up for grabs. Go on go take a peep!!!!

Thank you Kerry.....

Wow!!!! Just look at what I received in the post this morning from Kerry aka Pickle. Such a beautiful wallet card and look at all the images she has included, WOW!!!!!!!! how lucky am I. Thank you very, very much Kerry for your generosity, another lovely surprise. I truly am extremely grateful. I think I will be MIA for a while, to give me chance to play with all these gorgeous images I have been sent lately.

It is almost a year since I started crafting and in that time I have 'met' such lovely, lovely ladies through both the do-crafts forum and more recently via 'blogland'. I would just like to take this opportunity in thanking everyone who visits my blog each day and leaves such kind, thoughtful and supportive comments. I think you girls are the best and I honestly value your friendship. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, loads of love 'n' hugs to you all xxxxxx vicki xxxxxxx

Thank you Jools....

I received this absolutely gorgeous card yesterday from Jools. Also in the picture you can see a fab gift tag with the most appropriate crafters verse, which I thought was brill, it came as a lovely surprise and really cheered me up, thank you soooo very much Julie. If you haven't already, please go and pay her a visit, she's a lovely lady and her blog is so inspiring. Many, many thanks again Julie, love 'n' hugs xx vicki xx

a quick hello....

...well I tucked Georgia & Yasmin to bed just after 8pm last night, came downstairs sat down with a cuppa, next thing I knew it was 2.20am, telly and lights still on, boys in bed me on my todd downstairs......I feel as if I have lost a whole week. Now today been out all day with Yassy, cos the infants department is being used as a polling station, so we went into town to buy some more bits 'n' bobs for Ryans birthday tomorrow also Georgia is going away for the weekend with Brownies so she needed things.....PHEW!!!!!!!.....
