Stampin for the Weekend - Week 9

Hello everyone, it's week 9 of our challenges over at Stampin for the Weekend and this weeks sponsor, Susie of Die Cut Dreams, Susie offering a lovely prize worth 20.00 of die cuts. Our theme this week is ALTERATIONS

This week's SFTW challenge is to take an item that you either have in your home or have bought to "alter in some form" by decorating it, ie a tin, jar, book, binder, box, clipboard, etc.

So here is a piccie of the washing up powder box and empty Yankie Candle Jar Before..

This is what they turned out like. I am now using the box for all the stamped images my lovely blogging buddies have sent me. The lil jar houses lots of flowers.

Here's some more boxes that I have covered. I bought a few rolls of wrapping paper a while back, which came in very handy.

My lovely teamies have come up with some very imaginative creations, so why not check out their blogs to see for yourself. Many thanks to Suzie for being our Guest Design Team member for these past two weeks, it has been a pleasure having her aboard, her creations are so wonderful, so thank you Suzie.

I think this is weeks SFTW theme going to be such a fun challenge, I can't wait to see what all you clever crafters will come up with.

I also want to say a humungous thank you to my amazing teamie Kimmi, who came to my rescue last night. My computer has crashed and I've lost everything...yep...photos, scrapbook downloads, digi downloads, the lot. So I was in a right pickle trying to schedule this post, cos I didn't have any photos, but the lovely Kimmi sent me these in an e-mail so I was able to pop some piccies on to show that I have done this weeks challenge.....lol!! Thank you so very much Kimmi, your a lil gem...mwah....

***UPDATED *** My clever hubby came home from London yesterday evening and has managed to restore my computer to how it was, phew what a relief. I was in such a state of panic when my computer initially crashed, so well done Steve....you come in handy now and again......lol!!!

have a lovely weekend all, ttfn xx vicki xx

a lovely award......

I have received this lovely award from my amazing Stampin for the Weekend teamie, Kimmi. Thank you so very much Kimmi for thinking of me to pass this onto. For those who don't know Kimmi, she is one courageous young lady, who has been through a tremendous amount for such a young age. Kimmi is undergoing chemo at the moment, but her drive, determination and high spirit is so inspiring, I honestly admire everything about this wonderful young lady, she is truly amazing.
I have met some wonderful friends in blogland so choosing who to pass this award onto is difficult but here goes:-

Zoe, Claire, Caroline, Vicky, Kerry, Jill, Jilli, Natalie and Julie.

p.s. Just to say that the squirrel situation is now under control. The little devils had chewed through our water pipes in the loft eaves, which lead to my craft room ceiling, the study ceiling and Yasmins bedroom ceiling dripping with water. Yasmins bedroom was the worst as her ceiling completely caved in, but thankfully it has been fixed just waiting for the plasterer to come, then I can re-decorate it. Poor Yasmin was hysterical when it happened, she had just come out of the shower and was going into her bedroom when the water was gushing through the ceiling, but is now a happy lil bunny cos I have promised her new curtains, bedding etc. Thank you for all your kind regards. Luv 'n' hugs xx vicki xx

Stampin for the Weekend - challenge #8 "Masking"

Hiya guys, hope your all enjoying the Summer Hols so far, I've had a disaster of a start over at my Paperlicious Oasis but that's another story, all I'll say is squirrels, loft and leaky ceilings.

So onto week 8 of our challenges over at Stampin for the Weekend and our sponsor this week is Windrush Cards & Crafts, who are very kindly offering a House Mouse stamp called "Exciting Celebration" for the lucky winner

Our challenge for this week is entitled "Masking" and we would love to see two or more stamped images on your card or project of your choice.

We have a new guest designer, Suzie will be joining us for the next two weeks, so why not pop over and check our her wonderful designs.

Here is my card for this weeks challenge. I have used three Magnolia stamps for my masking technique, the images have been coloured with distress inks. The papers are MME "bloom & grow", the sentiment and oval shapes are SU and the butterfly is from my new Spellbinders die, I'm still trying to get used to using it in my Big Shot and not really getting the results I want, so I shall have to play around a little more. You may just notice a sneaky peak at the MS Flourish punch on the left hand side of the image, it arrived on the weekend and although I really love it, I think I may be doing something wrong as it doesn't punch as good as I was expecting it too.....
My fabby teamies have come up with some stonking creations again this week, please pop over and check out their blogs to see for yourself. I hope you'll be able to join us for this weeks challenge over at Stampin for the Weekend, looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Thanks for popping by my lil oasis and for all the lovely comments, for which, as always I am so grateful for. Enjoy your weekend, take care, luv 'n' hugs xx vicki xx

Stampin' for the Weekend challenge #7

Hiya folks and a happy Friday to you all. Today is week 7 over at Stampin' For The Weekends challenge blog, can you believe how quick these weeks are flying by. Our sponsor this week is Fred She Said and Tracey is very kindly donated a $25 gift voucher for the lucky winner to spend.
Our theme this week is "70's Rock and Roll"
There are three song titles you can choose from,
Three Times a Lady - The Commodores
Tangled up in Blue - Bob Dylan
Seasons in the Sun - Terry Jacks

So with it being the end of term, I decided to go with the "Seasons in the Sun" theme as I wanted to make cards for my youngest daughters teachers and these are what I came up with.

For both cards I have used DCWV papers. Miss Anya has been coloured with Copics. The lil "Box in a Bag" is so easy to make, I followed a step by step tutorial from Split Coast Stampers, inside the lil bags houses a cute lil cuddly toy that Yasmin choose for both her teachers.
The rest of my lovely teamies over at SFTW have come up with some fab creations, just have a lil nosey at their blogs to see for yourselves, it's great to see everyone's different interpretations of the song titles this week and hopefully you will be able to play along too.

I have now, well as of yesterday, officially finished work for the holidays, 6 lovely weeks off....yay!!!! that's is one of THE best things about working in a school. So hopefully, daughters permitting, should have more time to craft and visit all my lovely blogging buddies, as I feel I have really neglected you all lately, so huge apologies once again.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend and enjoy the summer hols, my children break up school today....ooooo just realised I may have 6 weeks off......but so do they.....lots of kids entertaining to do then...lol!!!! xx vicki xx

Birthday Wishes

Hello folks, hope your all keeping well. I am so disorganized lately, can't seem to keep on top of most things, roll on the summer hols...yay!!! I clean forgot about the teacher who I work with, it was her birthday on Monday, thank goodness she has been on a course today, at least I had chance to quickly whip up this card to give to her tomorrow, may have just gotten away with the fact that I'd forgotten.....lol!!!
I've used mainly SU products for this card, which I always purchase from the very "luvly" Jules. Miss Anya has been coloured with SU inkpads, the papers are SU, as is the ribbon, sentiment and oval punched shapes, a lil diamonte ribbon buckle for a lil bit of sparkly bling.

gotta dash, loads more to do before I head off to bed.

SFTW - Challenge #6 "Strawberries dipped in chocolate"

Hiya folks, hope your all keeping well. The weekend is almost here, again, and just one more week left and all the kids are off for 6 weeks, oh I can hardly contain my excitement.....not....lol!!!

So it's Friday and that means another new challenge over at SFTW, but firstly what a wonderful response we had to our "Double or Nothing" challenge, thank you for all those beautiful entries.
Our sponsor for this weeks challenge is Simon Says Stamp who are donating $25, one lucky winner is going to be very happy, me thinks.

We have a rather yummy title for this weeks challenge..."Strawberries Dipped in Chocolate"..mmm delish. In other words we have a colour combination for you to use Red and Brown on your creations. Below is a picture which my lovely fellow DT member Nicola has kindly said we could use for inspiration, thanks Nicola.
Here is what I came up with. I received this Sugar Nellie stamp a few weeks ago, I spent ages debating if I liked this range by Leanne Ellis or not, this one is my favourite. I've been having a lil play, firstly I coloured the image with distress inks, then spritzed the image all over with Glimmer Mist (irridescent gold), once dried, I heat embossed it with clear embossing powder and was quite pleased with the effect. The papers are MME "magnolia", sentiment is SU, Prima flowers, brads, spacers, pins and tulle from my stash.
I used the same technique for this card regarding the image. Papers again MME "Magnolia" no matter how many photos I have taken of this card, the papers look pink but in real life they are true red, so I do apologise for the photo. SU sentiment. The flowers have been given the Glimmer Mist (irridescent gold) treatment too. The lace, from my local haberdashery store has been attached with staplers.

Some beautie cards my fellow DT members at SFTW have produced again this week, why not check them out. Hopefully you too will be able to join in with this weeks challenge over at SFTW, you could win the fab prize of $25, donated by Simon Says Stamp, well you never know.

Hope you all enjoy your weekend, whatever you have planned.
luv'n' hugs and many thanks for visiting my lil oasis and for all the treasured comments you kindly take the time to leave....mwah

Happy Birthday Jules

Yesterday was Julie's birthday and this is the card I sent her, I did make a matching box but forgot to take a piccie of that.....doh!!! The lovely Magnolia image was given to me as a RAK from Jill, I have coloured her with distress inks and added glamour dust to her wings. The papers are all SU which I always buy through Jules. I've added glimmer mist to the flowers and swirl, sentiment is SU, as is the oval shapes.

Just a quickie post today, hope your all enjoying your weekend so far.

SFTW - challenge #5 Double or Nothing....

Gosh these Friday's sure are coming around quickly aren't they. Can you believe that we are already on week 5 of our challenges over at Stampin for the Weekend.

This week we have two wonderful prizes up for grabs, the first is from Daisy May Designs and the lucky winner will have the choice of 5 digital sheets, which has been so kindly donated by Linnie.

The second prize has again been kindly donated by Janet over at Pink Gem Designs. The lucky winner will receive this cute Fairy stamp.

The very lovely Nancy is our Guest Designer again this week. She has done such a fantastic job these last two weeks, not only has she created such wonderful cards but she has also visited everyone's blogs who entered last week and left such lovely comments. Thank you very much Nancy for being part of our team for these two weeks, it has been a pleasure to have you as a GDT member, I hope you have enjoyed yourself.

And now to this weeks challenge which is entitled "Double or Nothing". Kimmi & Donna have come up with two fantastic sketches for you to make your cards with. We shall leave the decision up to you as to which one or both you decide to go with.

Donna's sketch

Kimmi's sketch
For this weeks challenge I have used Kimmi's sketch. And as you can see, just a lil bit of distressing has gone on.......lol!!! I've coloured the WOJ Melinda image with distress inks, used glamour dust for her wings. The papers are K & Co, I've used my SU distressing tool around the edges, then applied some chalk ink. The roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts, lace, string of pearls and charm from my stash, the sentiment is Stampin Up.

Don't forget to pop by and check out my lovely fellow DT members creations, they have come up with some beauties again this week. I hope you'll be able to join us for this weeks challenge over at SFTW, I shall look forward to seeing what you create using the above sketches and you never know it could be you who'll win those lovely prizes. Hope you all have a lovely weekend, luv 'n' hugs xx vicki xx
