1 card 2 challenges.....

This is the card I have made for both Laurel and Mands challenges.

My fellow former SBS11 sister Laurel has a gorgeous stamp set up for grabs, she asked for a card to be made using flowers and her favourite colour, pink.
Fellow do-crafter and blogging buddy Mand also has some delicious candy up for grabs, the challenge she has set is for faux stitching.

The papers I've used are Basic Grey two scoops, flowers are from heidihicrafts.com The 'stitches' are from a kit I recently ordered from QVC (item no 585305), the brad is also from the same kit. I wanted the stitches to be white, practised for ages with Stazon Opaque, but I just can't get to grips with that ink pad at all. So I gave in and settle for black, but I think it is too harsh and now spoils the effect, I did use Sakura white gelly roll pen for the top and bottom stitches, much subtler.

Yipppeeeeee!!!! Georgia has gone back to school today after having over a week off. Trouble is Tom is off today, he has a college interview at 1pm. Tomorrow Yasmin will be off school because the infant school will be used as a polling station, but the Juniors will be open, so Georgia will be going. I don't know whether I am coming or going lately....aaarrrggghhh!!!!! I love my kids to bits, but love them even more when they're in school.....lol!!! Roll on next week when my routine is back to normal.

Hope everyone is well, happy and de-stressed, take care, love & best wishes xx vicki xx

I've been tagged....

.... a couple of days ago by Saz to give 7 facts about myself. It wasn't that long ago that I did a tag similar, so please forgive me if I've sent you all to sleep because these are really boring/sad facts about myself. OK here goes

1. I can't swim. Never been interested in learning either. I will go in the water with my children for a splash around though ....lol

2. I'm petrified of heights, therefore not very keen on fairgrounds.

3. I love piggin' out on celery and houmous, one of my fav snacks....(oooh just realised, there's some left over in the fridge, back in a mo........... i'm back...he! he!...yuuuummmmmy!!

4. I quit smoking and stopped biting my nails at the same time, three years ago now. I'm proud to say I have long, strong, healthy nails, which I love looking after and painting different colours... another addiction I have.

5. I'm really fussy (think of the guy in Sleeping with the Enemy) with my hand towels. They HAVE to be ironed and folded in a particular way before going into the airing cupboard. There MUST be three hanging over the towel rails in the bathrooms and all facing a certain way. Now bearing in mind we have 3 bathrooms and a downstairs loo, thats a lot of towels to mess up... :o(

6. Another sad habit/addiction/obsession I have is buy cleaning products. I think this stems from giving up smoking. Since 'kicking the habit', I've turned into a cleaning freak.....lol :o)

7. Lately I've become extremely forgetful and find that I have to write lists for everything and keep memos on the fridge etc......well the big 40 is fast approaching.....or am I just losing the plot altogether.....pmsl :-)!!!!

OK to save everyone the job, I have already phoned for 'the men in white coats' to come a take me away....he! he!. OMG!!! should I have revealed any of that info, makes me sound out to be a looney tune of a nutcase. I'm not........honestly.......lol!!!

I think most peeps have already played this game, so I won't pass in on to anyone in particular just play along if you want.

Will pay you all a visit later when my girlies have gone to bed. Hope everyone is well and happy. Be back soon. xx vicki xx

crafty girls

My daughters wanted to make a birthday card of their own to give to their brother Ryan. Yasmin (gummy bear, below) did everything herself, from colouring, cutting to sticking things down, (she even added a smiley face to the stamped image...aaawwwww bless her). Georgia (above) knew what she wanted to use, the image is again from Natalie, I just helped with the eyelets and cutting. Considering Georgia has spent the majority of this week lying on the sofa, today she is pretty much back to her usual self, just a tad week and lethargic....

brother.....

This is for my son Ryan who will be 14 next week, (wow!! unbelievable) from his sister, Georgia. I've used paper from qvc. Corrugated card, again. Date stamp is Melissa Francis, again from qvc. Dymo labels. Magnolia images have been masked, really enjoy doing that technique at the mo. Sorry just a quick post this evening, got loads of catching up to do. Been busy with Georgia these last couple of days, she has been really ill bless her. Took her back to the docs Friday, gave her different medication, seems to be working, fingers crossed.........

happy birthday.....

Had a little helper with me when I made this card, my daughter, Yasmin. She wants to give it to her sister, Georgia, for her birthday at the end of May. Really like using corrugated card at the moment. The paper is DCWV pocket full of posies. I've coloured Wilma using Tim Holtz distress ink pads and Whisper pens. I've added Glossy Accents to her earings and bobbles, also added platinum liquid pearls to the necklaces. xx vicki xx

two quickies.......

I think these are the quickest cards I've ever made. I'm really behind with family birthdays this month, so made these cards, for my brother-in-law, at 1.30 this morning. You know when you are soooo tired you just can't get to sleep. So I took meself off to my little room and put these together in a jiffy.
The images are courtesy of Natalie, from some candy she gave me a while back and I've been itching to use this little character for ages, perfect for b-i-l's card. Papers are the ever popular Masculine range by Dovecraft. Used Whisper pens to colour images with, not used them for a ages.

Thanks for passing by, love and best wishes to you all xx vicki xx

Thank you Sue......

Oh Wow!!!! how lucky am I???? Look what arrived in the post this morning from Sue. A beautiful wallet card, which I noticed on Sue's blog earlier this week, but had no idea it was for me. Sue offered to send me some High Hope images, by way of saying thank you for the challenge candy I sent her. I never expected to receive sooo many, thank you very, very much Sue. These are such lovely images, .......maybe another addiction coming on, me thinks..he! he!!!!!!
Hope everyone is well and happy and enjoying the glorious sunshine. I'm having a quick post in between footy training and brownies, will be back later to say a proper hello to peeps. Today has been such a crazy, hectic day, but thats another story.... and a long one at that.
Huge thanks again Sue for my lovely RAK, has cheered me up no end today, love and best wishes to you all xx vicki xx

something very special......

To say how thrilled I was this morning when my postman arrived is such an understatement. A white, square envelope lay on the floor of our porch, when I opened it up, the surprise I got was overwhelming. I truly never expected to receive what I did. Kerry sent me the most gorgeous wallet card, with her very own 'doodled' character drawn on the front. She sent it by way of saying thank you for the 'bling' challenge candy she won. I have loved seeing Kerrys cards displayed on the do-crafts forum and even more since she started blogging, but to actually receive one from her is something so very special and precious to me, for which I am truly grateful.

This is no ordinary card, the reason I find it so very special is because Kerry also sent me a selection of her very own ("KerryJo originals") doodles, one of my favourites being the ballerina, seeing it in real life is amazing, thank you so very, very much Kerry. I feel so priviledged to have been given these images, not to mention extremely ecstatic, excited, chuffed to bits, over the moon......

I know you can't really see Kerrys' drawings that well, the reason being is that they are copyright to Kerry, so for safety reasons I left them in the wallet, as I would hate for anything untoward to happen if I photographed them individually. I now know how Julie felt when she made that fabby 'skater boy' card. I'm still getting used to looking at these 'doodles', whether I will have the courage to make a card as yet, that feels so very daunting at the mo. To be honest I am still in a state of surprise. This has been such a special, precious treat and really has brightened our day. Sending you loads of love 'n' hugs and special thanks Kerry.

Magnolia Challenge .....

Girly but blue
You don't see many girl cards/projects in blue very often, They are normally pink! Well i would love you to make your projects this week in BLUE! Has to be suitable for a female. This is a pretty broad challenge this week, It could be a simple card, A altered art project etc

Papers are K& Co Sparkly Sweet
Cuttlebug embossing folder
Craftwork Cards Sentiment
Scalloped Oval - Nestabilties
Glamour Dust added to petticoat, wings, and scalloped oval
As it will be my daughters birthday next month and her new favourite colour is blue, I think this card will come in handy to give her from her brothers. Blimey....it's Ryans birthday next week, haven't got a clue where to start with his card, he's Arsenal mad, better get my thinking cap on. May is a mad birthday month in our family, oh well....another reason to spend some time in my craft room...lol!!
********
Thank you for all the well wishes, you are such lovely, kind, thoughtful ladies. Georgia has had a really bad day again, aawwww bless her, took her to the Drs' this morning, she's gone from one extreme to the other, he's given her some medicine, so hopefully that should make her better.

Jillis' "Fresh 'n' Fun" challenge...

This is my contribution to Jillis challenge. I thought the colours were fresh and the image was fun.
Papers - Dovecraft Retro Floral,
Letters are Sizzix 'monkey tails' ,
Rubber Romance image courtesy of Jillis' RAK

I wish I felt "fresh 'n' fun", my poor little girl, Georgia-May, has been ill since last night and most of today, had both Georgia and Yasmin in bed with me last night, the matchsticks are no longer keeping my eyes open....lol!!! All I will say is I am soooo glad we have laminate flooring, so much easier to clean. Why does this always happen as soon as Stephen (my hubby) goes back to London, men aaaarrrrghhhh!!! Hopefully we will all be feeling a bit more with it tomorrow, or is that just wishful thinking...he! he!

my first attempt at masking

I have been wanting to try this technique for ages. As I really love these two images I thought they would suit this technique perfectly. I haven't put a sentiment on this card because I think I may keep it for my hubby. Next month will be our 10th wedding anniversary and I may give him this card but not too sure as yet. I have also stitched, not faux, but really stitched with proper needle and thread...(cor thats two cards now), the patterned paper is K & Co, can't get enough of their papers at the mo. Coloured the image with Copic markers. Think I have got another new addiction ....oh eck!!!

Here is a link if anyone is interested in trying the masking technique for themselves

Thanks for passing by xx vicki xx

Happy Birthday Jilli.....

Yesterday was Jillis birthday, Happy Birthday to you Jilli. So I sent her this card, I waited until it arrived before putting up on my blog. She was kind enough to send me some Rubber Romance stamped images earlier in the week, so I thought to make her birthday card using one of those images, as I know she is rather keen on these divas just like myself. Papers are from Pink Petticoat. Dont forget to check out Jillis blog as her challenge is still running until next weekend.

HELP.....please!!!!!

I wonder if I could ask for some help/advice from you clever girlies. I have tried to figure out how to put links into my post, by just typing the persons name rather than their full blog addy. When I make a new post i.e the one below and want to mention someones blog I normally click on the button next to the colour chart and that still gives the full addy, but I just want the name to show only as the link. Please if anyone could explain to me I would be ever so grateful, mind you I am really dim as far as computers go, so easy steps please. Thank you so much xx vicki xx

Thank you Kerry, YIPPEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Look I've done it, it works, at last, all these weeks of trying to figure it out myself, if only I had asked sooner. (((((((((((Hugs)))))))) thank you so very much
xx vicki xx

I've been tagged

.......... twice, a few days ago, by two great girlies, Vikki (Vixx a craftin) & Kerry (Curly Girly Me) & I have 8 questions to answer.
1. If a movie was being made of your life who would you like to be cast to play yourself? and why?
2. You are spending a whole month on a desert island for charity and you have to choose your favourite celebrity to spend the first two weeks with & your least favourite celebrity to spend the second two weeks with, who would they be & why?
3. What are your three favourite crafting products?
4. If you could invent something to do anything what do you think it would be?
5. What are the last three books that you read?
6. Qvc or create & Craft?
7. Docrafts or Dovecraft or DCWV?
8. What is your claim to fame?

**********
1. If a movie was being made of your life who would you like to be cast to play yourself? and why?
I think I will probably go with Catherine Zeta Jones, purely for the Welsh accent. Hubby thinks I should have choosen Melanie Griffith, (for my fiesty temper) , cheeky so and so......lol
2. You are spending a whole month on a desert island for charity and you have to choose your favourite celebrity to spend the first two weeks with & your least favourite celebrity to spend the second two weeks with, who would they be & why?
ok this is a tricky one, there were so many to choose from, my initial choice was either Ant & Dec orPhil & Fern (this morning), what a cracking double act they make, but I am going to choose Matthew McConaughey, well a girls gotta have something cute to look at....phwoar!!!....As for the second two weeks, well there's not many people I don't like but Bryan Ferry (Roxy Music) makes my skin creep, I think he's really slimy and his voice goes through me aaaarrrggghhhh!!!
3. What are your three favourite crafting products?
Double sided sticky tape, Big Shot and my Crop A Dile.
4. If you could invent something to do anything what do you think it would be?
I'm with Kerry for this answer, I hate ironing sooooo much and would have to invent something to do it all for me.
5. What are the last three books that you read?
I'm ashamed to admit that I dont read novels myself, but love magazines. I read every evening to my daughters though and we have just finished a few Junie B Jones books, so I suppose that counts.
6. Qvc or create & Craft?
QVC by a miles, spend way too much but they have some lovely products. Not keen on C & C products or presenters...sorry.
7. Docrafts or Dovecraft or DCWV?
Definately DCWV, gorgeous products, great quality
8. What is your claim to fame?
Not really got any claims to fame....aaahhhhhh! Well I have met a few Welsh Rugby players. Oh and a silly one is when I was a teeny bopper, the bouncer of the night club we used to go to appeared on Cilla Blacks Blind Date, but that doesn't really count. Other than that, quite boring I'm afraid.

So I guess I have to choose a few other crafty people to pass this onto. I think I will go for Jilli, Natalie, Gina , Vanessa and Noleen .If there is anyone else who would like to play along, please feel free to. Hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend xx vicki xx

cute card Thursday - challenge # 6

IT'S A MANS WORLD
This week we would like to see your cards made for the men and boys in your life.
Well it's Friday, we've just had our dinner from the chip shop, my hubby isn't coming home from London 'til tomorrow morning, I've a garden full of children so what better reason to take myself off to my craft room and make a card for the Cute Card Thursday challenge.
I really enjoyed making this card, I've used paper from my stash that I've had for ages. Now I know lots of you are into pink, and yes I do love girly colours, but have to say I love browns of any shade. I will also have you know that I have sewn the buttons on with my own fair hands, no less....lol!!! Also had chance to use one of those Dymo thingy ma bob machines for the 'my guy' label.
Hope whatever your up to, your happy and having fun, love, best wishes and happy crafting/blogging xx vicki xx

sweet sugar challenge....

This week the challenge is to make a card using NO patterned paper. This is my attempt...doesn't it look bare??????

Well I needed some excuse to use up my corrugated card!!!! Hope you all have a great weekend.

xx vicki xx

All that sparkles

If you pay a visit to Papertake Weekly challenge blog, the theme of this weeks challenge is' all that sparkles'. I would like to say a huge thanks to Jilli, my new blogging buddy, for the Rubber Romance image, dont forget to check out her blog, she has candy up for grabs!!!!.I'm am not to sure about this card. It is nothing like I thought it was going to be. I think of an layout in my mind and everytime I make a card, it turns out nothing like how I originally imaged it would, why is that??????? The orginal photo didn't show the sparkly bits to good, so I zoomed in to get a better look at the glamour dust which twinkles around the edge. The mulberry paper also has sparkly glitter in, sorry for the really bad pics, my photography skills are shocking...lol!!

Hope you all have a fabby weekend, especially Jilli as it's her birthday tomorrow. Take care, love & best wishes xx vicki xx

Thank you Gill and Jilli

A few days ago I received two lovely surprise RAKs from Gill (http://gillyflowersexpression.blogspot.com )and Jilli (http://jillispaiges.blogspot.com). Thank you both so very much ladies, it was such a lovely surprise.

From Gill

From Jilli ( a fellow Rubber Romance fan as you can see)

Wednesday, 16 April 2008

I made this card really quickly yesterday afternoon as I was so excited to receive my new Magnolia stamps and just couldn't resist having a little play.

Everything on the card is from some new stash I have recently acquired, ( sssssshhhhhh don't tell hubby....pmsl). Love the gorgeous Sugared papers by Basic Grey, Bazzill cardstock, flowers are flora doodles from Joanna Sheen, big eyelets are from qvc, paper clip is Making Memories. After I made this card I thought it would be nice to send to Kerry (http://curlygirlyme.blogspot.com) along with some stamped images, as part of my 'bling' challenge candy she won. However, it's kinda scary sending a card to someone who is incredibly talented. Just hope it's ok as I know these images are not to everyones taste, but I am crazy about them at the mo. Thanks for stopping by xx vicki xx

magnolia challenge.....

RIBBON GALORE!
We would love to see lots of ribbon on your work,As many ribbons you can get on your work as possible. You all have heard of the saying "less is more" well we want MORE MORE MORE!

Having received my new stamps yesterday, I thought I would make a card for the magnolia challenge using this adorable character. I know some of you are unsure of this image, but I have to say I love her and was so excited when she arrived yesterday, I quickly set about making two cards, the other I will show later. The papers are by K & Co. Scalloped ovals are cut on my Big Shot with nestabilities, woodware buttons, cuttlebug divine swirls embossing folder. Coloured using copic markers and tim holtz distress inks. Hope everyone is happy and well on this gorgeous spring morning. Will be back later with some more cards,

a few cards to show...

Hello peeps, wow what a busy day. I was asked to help out at my daughters school this morning, we went on a trip to the forest. Trekking all morning looking a trees.....hhhhmmmmm!!!! lol. To be honest I did enjoy myself. The best part was we got to do mud paintings yippeee!!! I was the biggest kid there. We all had sheets of material, bowls of mud, then we had to find things within the forest to make a painting with... it was brill.... I was using moss, twigs, leaves, stones for stamping materials. But the best part of today was when I got home......mys new stamps from sir stampalot arrived. Been trying for ages to get certain Magnolia stamps, placed my order on Friday and they were waiting on the doormat when I arrived home. So I did make one card, but will leave that to show another time.

The cards below I made last week but with my 'bling' challenge I decided to leave them until now to show. The Lola stamp is another recent addition to my ever increasing addiction to stamps.

Papers are Dovecraft Retro Flowers
Cuttlebug distressed stripes embossing folder
Derwent watercoloured pencils & Copic markers

The card above I made using Basic Grey 'gypsy' paper pad, took me a very long time before I was able to use this, as I can't bare to part with my lovely papers...boo hoo!!! ( I also needed to lie down afterwards to recover....lol!!!)

This card was for the Do Crafts monthly friendship swap.

The papers are K & Co.

Well that's all for now folks. Will have a bit more time tomorrow (hopefully) to catch up with everyone. Love & best wishes to you all, take care xx vicki xx

And the winner is ...............

**** Drumroll, fanfair, standing ovation ****
????
??
?

Congratulations goes to Kerry http://curlygirlyme.blogspot.com/
Now considering Leigh hasn't a crafty bone in her body and runs a mile everytime I try to talk about card making, her reasons for choosing Kerrys card was, and I quote :-
" ooooooo feathers on a card, how unusual....black & pink together looks so nice.....this card has a certain Art Deco feel about it..."
Well I almost pmsl and said " when on earth did you become such an expert".
I think you will all agree, a very worthy winner, well done Kerry. If you haven't already done so, please pay her blog a visit. Not only does she create beautiful cards, but her 'doodles' are all hand drawn, she's an incredibly talented lady, destined for fame and fortune.
AND THERE'S MORE.........
Because of all the beautiful enteries and by way of saying a huge thanks to all you crafty girls for taking part in my little challenge, I asked Leigh to pick four runners up. To be honest she found this virtually impossible, due to the high standard of entries, so we put all of your names in a bowl and Leigh picked out the following names:-
If you lovely ladies could please e-mail me your home addresses (vicki.cody@sky.com). I will send out your goodies in the post. Thanks to everyone once again for taking part. I have thoroughly enjoyed this challenge and will be doing more in the future.
take care, love & best wishes xx vicki xx

Arty Girlz challenge #29

After seeing Natalies (http://nattykcards.blogspot.com/) lovely wallet cards recently. I thought I would make a few of these as I have promised to send some stamped images out to a few lovely girls. I then saw the challenge over at the Arty Girlz blog and decided to put these in. The papers are from Pink Petticoat, stamped image is, yep you guessed Rubber Romance, just love those Divas and a few sparkly gems for the added touch of bling.
These are so easy to make, also saves having loads of strips of card from left over A4 sheets when making my own square cards. Often wondered what to do with the scraps, I usually make tags or die cut letters. Thanks for passing by, hope everyone is well and happy today, take care love and best wishes xx vicki xx

Just to say my little blog was featured on http://qkdbloggers.blogspot.com earlier this week. They sent me an e-mail when I first set up my blog asking for the go ahead. So I gave them a little info about myself and told them they could choose which cards they wanted to put, it's only two they feature. Well when I had a look, they choose the chocolate card....aaarrrgghhh!!! wish they hadn't cos I'm not too keen on that one. Also noticed loads of other girlies featured there too. I've put their blinkie on my blog, but it doesn't blink,( he! he! that sounds funny), does anyone know if I need a special html code for it to work, thanks.
I know I have been a real bag blogger lately, I've got loads of catching up to do, not to mention new peeps to put on my blogroll. But Yippee!!!!! my scallywags are all back in school, my housework/ironing is bang up to date, so I am off to have a play with some of my new stash.

Recently received these two stamps from Funky Kits and thought I would use them for this weeks Sweet Sugar Challenge. I also bought a couple of Copic Marker pens and Derwent watercolour pencils to try out. Must say they are so lovely to use. I got my hands on some Sansodor a couple of weeks back, but I don't seem to be able to get a very good result using that, so will just have keep on practising.

I love these Pirate papers by Sandylion. I bought a kit from QVC, which contains stickers, embellies and fabby papers which work well with this stamp.

Challenge 5 is to make TWO (yes two!!!) cards for those very hard people in our lives - men and boys! So get your creative thinking caps on and make two male themed cards.

MY CHALLENGE IS STILL ONGOING, PLEASE SCROLL DOWN FOR DETAILS

5000+ HITS ~ 'BLING' ing beautiful challenge

I just wanted to show my appreciation to you all, because I am sooo overwhelmed by the amount of hits I have received in such a short space of time. Thank you to each and everyone of you who has taken the time to visit my blog.

By way of saying thank you, I thought I would set a challenge, entitled.....'BLING'-ing beautiful. Where byI would like you to make a card of your choice, the only stipulation is that it has to feature some form of 'BLING'. Whether that be glitter, gems, sparkly buckles, anything you choose.

One lucky blogger will then win the stash featured in the post below. I would like to emphasise that I WILL NOT be choosing the winner. I will leave that unenviable job up to my friend Leigh. I will have her to choose the winner Saturday, April 12 at10pm.

I have made two cards with my bit of'bling' ,which I received from Natalies' blog candy. Thanks again Natalie, for it was these that gave me the initial idea. I hope you enjoy this challenge. I can't wait to see your creations.. Please leave a comment on this post if you want to take part and where your card is and I will then put up a list on this post who has entered. I hope I have made myself understood. Any queries just ask. Once again huge thanks to everyone.
