Something completely different .........

..... hiya folks, I mentioned a few months ago that I was taking GCSE Art at the school I work, well that's all changed now and I'm taking A Level ( I must be bonkers.... pmsl), drawing isn't my strong point and that's a massive understatement.... lol!!!!!  I'm looking at the work of Amadeo Modigliani, (mainly cos his portraits are fairly simple to draw).  I'm also looking at Mixed Media artists too.

This is one of my paintings inspired by Modligliani, incorporating some Mixed Media. It's a 10" x 8" canvas board.  I've used K & Co papers for the background, bubble wrap prints. My lady was painted with a mix of Acrylic paint and Caran D'Ache Neo II water soluble crayons.  I've added some tulle for texture, lots of Gesso and a die cut butterfly for added interest.

I may start another blog with my Mixed Media Art interests and journalling. There are so many incredible blogs out there with amazingly talented artists, I have to say that Peggy, over at The Bliss Factory is one of my favourites, her work is truly awesome, not to mention inspirational.

Well that's my lil something completely different, I would love to know what you think, if you hate/dislike it please don't hesitate to let me know as all critism is very welcome.

Thanks for popping by my lil oasis

Hi Vicki, thanks for mentionning my name and for the sweet comment on my blog.
As you said Modigliani's portraits are simple to draw ... well they seem simple to draw. But there are so much emotion coming from them and you captured it very well. The background is great and I would love to have your lady's skin tone ! :o)
Keep up the good work, I look forward to see your next paintings, I am a new follower !
Hugs
Peggy

well i went to some art classes/course when aaron was first at nursey and one day we did a life study of a lady model (clothed) and the teacher said after staring for a while at my finished sketch, that modligliani was my style....mmmmmmmm not good at people , so i stuck to apples and vases!! LOL ~ maybe it was a compliment then????

Beautiful work. I bought a Kelley Rae Roberts book and just did a painting similar to yours. I'm giving it to my daughter for Christmas. Yours is such a beauty.
